Kelly Curran is the Senior Director for HIV and Infectious Diseases at Jhpiego. She also serves as Director of the Jhpiego-led Reaching Impact, Saturation and Epidemic control (RISE) project, which is funded by PEPFAR through USAID. Ms. Curran has led Jhpiego’s efforts to bring biomedical prevention services from research to practice to public health scale — more than 4.5 million men and boys have received voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) at Jhpiego-supported sites in 12 African countries. Ms. Curran’s team is currently applying lessons from the VMMC scale-up to the introduction and scale up of oral pre-exposure prophylaxis in Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia, Nigeria and Tanzania and is working to improve case finding and linkage to treatment for adult men, adolescents and other populations that are currently under-represented across the 95-95-95 cascade. Jhpiego’s HIV and Infectious disease team also leads Jhpiego’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a focus on risk communication, infection prevention and control, testing and clinical management.
