Dr. Bina Valsangkar is a board-certified pediatrician and Principal Maternal Newborn Advisor at Jhpiego, where she leads the organization’s newborn portfolio, focusing on small and sick newborn care, newborn care in humanitarian settings, and research, advocacy, and innovations in newborn health. Dr. Valsangkar has worked on newborn and child health in over 20 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America to draft policy, conduct research, and develop programs to reduce newborn deaths. Dr. Valsangkar received her medical and public health training at the University of Michigan and Harvard School of Public Health and has served as faculty in global health at the Yale Jackson School of Global Affairs. She cares for newborns, children, and adolescents in general pediatric practice in the Washington, DC area.
